Dating: 1. Give her flowers for her birthday. Candy is also good, but flowers mandatory if you're going to be taken seriously.
2. When you first send flowers, send a rose to her mother. Family is very important to romance in Russia. Letters are read aloud to parents and friends. Woo the mother.
3. Write first. The male is expected to make the contact. This is much as it was in the US two generations ago. For Ukraine, that is still the way it goes.
4. Do not be slow writing letters back, if you are not "attentive" she will think you're not serious. On the other hand, she might be a little slow writing you because she lives in a more difficult place to communicate and she must have translation done too.

Independence Day of Ukraine
After facing two World Wars and later lots of political turmoil, Ukraine got their independence from the Soviet Unions on the 24th of August, 1991. The Independence Day of Ukraine was a hard fought battle with the constitution being adopted nearly five years after its independence.
Hundreds of thousand Ukrainians organized a human chain for Ukrainian independence in memory of the 1919 unification of Ukrainian People's Republic and West Ukrainian National Republic on January 1990. The conservative Communist leaders of Soviet Union even attempted a coup to remove Gorbachev and to restore Communist party power in August 1991 but failed. In response to this the Ukrainian parliament adopted the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine in which the parliament declared Ukraine as an independent democratic state on 22nd August 1991.
Even though final independence for Ukraine was achieved in 1991 with the dissolution of the USSR, democracy remained intangible as the legacy of state control and endemic corruption stalled efforts at economic reform, privatization, and civil liberties. Ukraine's Independence Day is a special day for all the citizens big and small. On this Independence Day of Ukraine adults don't go to their jobs, and children don't attend school. Different types of social activities are prepared by the Municipal where people enjoy to their fullest. While children can enjoy a big circus that is located in the center of the city, during the day people go to the free markets where they can buy anything and everything they need. It could be just a bouquet of flowers, a CD player, or a car. However the best part of Ukrainian Independence Day is the evening fireworks which are just amazing to watch. The young people go to parties to continue celebrating and Independence Day of Ukraine is said to be the happiest holiday for them. National Anthem of Ukraine
“Shche ne vmerla Ukraina” or “Ukraine's Glory Has Not Perished” in English is the currently modified version of the national anthem of Ukraine. The original of this patriotic poem was written by Pavlo Chubynsky, a prominent ethnographer from the region of Ukraine's capital, Kiev in 1862 and in 1863, a western Ukrainian composer and a Greek-Catholic priest, Mykhaylo Verbytsky composed the music for the national anthem of Ukraine. The Ukrainian national anthem was first performed at the Ukraine Theatre in Lviv, in 1864.

National Flag Ukraine
The current national flag of Ukraine was adopted on 28 th January, 1992. Previously Ukraine's national flag was officially adopted for the first time in history in 1918 by a short-lived Ukrainian People's Republic. Though lot of changes have been made to the national flag of Ukraine, the current flag is used everywhere as the nation's national symbol.
Description with a brief History:
The Ukrainian national flag consists of two horizontal stripes of equal width of blue at the top and yellow at the bottom. The blue and yellow signify the colors of the sky, mountains, streams, and the golden fields. Some consider 18 th May 1848 to be the birthday of the famous blue-and-yellow Ukrainian national flag.
During the Spring of the Nations in 1848 a yellow and blue banner flew over the Lviv magistrate for the first time. It happened just after a revolution in Austro-Hungary, when a national movement started in the Ukrainian part of the empire. By then it had already turned into blue and yellow and sported a Tryzub in the upper left corner. The emblem remained unchanged by the successive government of Pavlo Skoropadsky and was later integrated into the Flag of Ukrainian SSR by the Bolsheviks. Though at the end of the Soviet empire blue and yellow were associated with the idea of national revival in Ukraine. The town council of Ternopil on 20 th March 1990 voted upon the usage and re-establishment of the yellow-and-blue flag and on that day for the first time in about 80 years the national flag of Ukraine was flown on a governmental building in Kiev, replacing the then official red-and-blue flag of the Ukrainian SSR. A week after, on 24 th July, 1990 the Supreme Council of USSR adopted the Declaration of the State Sovereignty of Ukraine, the national blue-and-yellow flag was placed on the building of the City Council in Khreshchatyk next to the state flag of the USSR. |

After the declaration of independence, Ukraine's national flag was raised above the Ukrainian Parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, on 4 th September, 1991 and on 28 th January, 1992 the Parliament approved the blue-and-yellow banner the State flag of Ukraine or the national flag of Ukraine.
Leonid Kuchma's decree in 2000 pronounces July 24 as the National Flag Day of Ukraine, when all the citizens can hoist the Ukrainian national flag and know the importance of the national flag of Ukraine. Presently the upper blue color signifies the open sky and the bottom yellow stripe symbolizes the wheat fields of Ukraine. |

Some words about Orthodoxy Orthodoxy (in greek language Ορθοδοξία), means the proper faith. Orthododoxy is used to characterize the faith of adherents of Christianism who are members of the Greek Orthodox Church, the Russian Church and other rchdioceses that belong to the Patriarchate of Constantinople. Orthodoxy is a concept of pure faith to the Holy Trinity released from human commitments to priests or the Patriarch. The most important thing is that every religionist is a free personality, who chooses wittingly to follow the teaching of Jesus Christ. In Orthodoxy, people don't believe in preists-Pope or another human being! The only pure and holy truth is the Holy Trinity. In Orthodoxy people's sins are forgiven through the holy mystery of the confession, which is being done face to face with the priest and not in hidden, in order to make this procedure more difficult and therefore more sincere. The name orthodoxy came up after the Schism of Christian Church in two parts- The Orthodox and the Catholic Church. The argument was in the frase of the Prayer in which is said that the Holy Spirit derives from God. Catholic church believes that the Holy Spirit derives also from Jesus. That's why after the Schism the Eastern Church was renamed after the term Orthodox, to claim that the real belief was it's rules and prayers. Orthodoxy includes a hudge ecclesiastic tradition of scripts and hymns. Also several of the greatest spiritual scripts are written by Orthodox monks in greek language. |

We wrote and spoke to each other every day, but I was just too shy to meet him. I guess I was too afraid of being hurt again. Finally, a month later, we met and hit it off immediately. I even called my mom on the way home from the date and told her that I had met the man I was going to marry someday!
I believe that everything happens for a reason....and it all brought me to Rayne. I couldn't have asked for a better mate for life. And it's refreshing to be with a man that even thinks like me...on the same intellectual level ...

Nina about her fiance Reginald:
"I am a 28 yr old divorced female. Although, I have been divorced for 6 years, my dating life has been a nightmare. I was meeting guys in all types of ways, and have had a lot of heartache. I have often wondered if I was ever going to find anyone again. My past relationships have been both verbally & physically abusive. I had just about given up, when I was stumbling through the personal ads online, and came across an ad from a guy that lived 10 minutes away from me. His photo & ad caught my eye, so I decided to give him a try. After exchanging a few emails, he called me and we met and went out. I have come to find out, our fathers' have known each other for over 10 years, and we have been crossing paths for sometime now. He is the sweetest, most romantic guy I have ever known, from opening my car door, to bringing me roses. We are now inseparable. For anyone out there who is thinking about giving up on meeting their special someone... good things come to those who wait!
David about Natalia :
“I was in a chat room, as most online romances happen. I had been on the Internet and chatting for almost three years. I was bored one afternoon, so I decided to go into a chat room. I had been in this particular room many times before, and met some very interesting people in it. While I was in there, I noticed two girls talking. One was married and had kids, and the other was asking questions like what is was like to be a mother, etc. I was most interested in her, she sounded so sweet. So I decided to start chatting with her. We didn't get to chat long, because of the 6-hour time difference, but it was a wonderful chat. She was a few years younger than me. We got to talking about many things, mostly music though. Before she had to leave she gave me her e-mail address. A few days later while I was online someone IM'd me, and it was her. She told me who it was and we started chatting. Like most people, we had many things in common. We had similar views on life, etc. After many more conversations, I realized I was really starting to like this girl. I had promised myself before that it's just not right for people over the Internet to be "in love," and that I'd never do such a thing. It just didn't seem right to me. Since, I thought, you never knew whom you are really talking to. Well, my opinions started to change, very quickly too. Weeks later our relationship really started to get serious. I almost felt ashamed at first, because it was on the Internet, but I don't worry about it now. All I have to say is that I have never loved someone so much before. Whoever says you can't love online, obviously hasn't.” |

Accept Russian and Ukrainian Cultural Traditions. Remember that Russians don't celebrate Western Christmas on 25 of December. Russians have Orthodox Christmas on the 7th of January. However it's only an official holiday in Russia, celebrated only by the Old Believers. For Russian people traditionally is very important to celebrate New Year from the evening of December 31st until the morning the 1st of January. Russians have a great party with family and friends on this night. You needn't stay up all night, of course. However it will be very nice of you to have romantic a midnight meal with her on the night of December 31st with bottle of Champagne. For your Russian wife it's very important that you don't forget her Birthday,Women's day, or New Year's Eve. Let her know how much you care and wish to take care of her! In addition, March 8th is women's day and flowers and presents for all women are expected. These are the three most important dates for her, and you should give presents on all three of them. |
